Jessamine County Food Pantry
For our latest Girls Gone Local adventure, we swapped wine glasses for grocery bags and spent the day at one of the most impactful organizations in our community — the Jessamine County Food Pantry. This incredible non-profit serves as a lifeline for local families, providing food and essential items to those who need it most. What truly amazed us is the sheer reach of their efforts — the pantry currently serves around 300 families every week, right here in Jessamine County.
From the moment we walked in, we could feel the sense of purpose and compassion that drives this place. Volunteers greeted us with warm smiles, shelves were stocked with care, and every bag of food represented hope for a neighbor. The pantry isn’t just about meeting basic needs — it’s about fostering dignity, kindness, and community support.
Meet Ruthann Richardson
At the heart of the pantry’s mission is Ruthann Richardson, the dedicated director who leads with a blend of organization, compassion, and grace. Ruthann shared how the pantry has grown over the years and how each volunteer and donation helps keep food on the tables of hundreds of local families. Her passion for serving others is contagious — and it’s clear that under her guidance, the pantry has become so much more than a food resource. It’s a place where community comes together, and hope is restocked every week.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference close to home, this is your sign. Visit the Jessamine County Food Pantry website or follow them on social media to learn how you can get involved this year and years to come.
❤️ Let’s make sure every family in Jessamine County has something to be thankful for this year.
